Hello and bonjour,
We’re looking for a virtual exchange that will hopefully lead to an exchange trip/partnership with a school in France.
Short-term:
I’m looking for penpals or virtual pals for the four levels of French students. I prefer students to read eachothers’ handwriting, as French handwriting is very distinctive and American handwriting is a bit messier and very unique to each student. It’d be nice to arrange some video exchanges between students as well. Due to the time difference, we would not be able to Skype or Google hangout with a whole class.
Long-term:
We’re hoping to partner with a school that is outside of Paris’ aire métropolitaine, so students will feel more confident navigating and speaking in French. Our school would need to travel to France in June. Your school could travel to us during one of your breaks to see our school in action.
Information:
We’re a high school with approx. 2000 students. We’re in central Illinois. About 3 hours from Chicago and St. Louis.
I teach four levels of French. Débutant: first year French (37 students) & second year French (27 students). Intermédiaire: third year French (6 students) & fourth year French (9 students).
Our school offers a wide range of courses: from technical education and certifications, to college-prep courses (AP). We offer four world languages: French, Latin, German, and Spanish. Our German program has been successfully participating in a GAPP exchange for over 20 years. Currently, we partner with a school in Backnang, Germany. Our school has a vision to keep the FAAX exchange and partnership going for the long-term.
A partnership will increase enrollment and interest in French. I imagine that my second year students would be the ones to start this program and then we’d move to third/fourth year students as the program grows.
Let me know if you are interested!
Cordialement,
Cassandra Bilyeu
